Whenever you’re using cookies on your website, we strongly advise that you have a Cookie Policy in place.
Using cookies on your website means you are storing information and data relating to your users’ activity, and it is a legal requirement under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to be transparent about how you do that. This applies to any business who’s website that gets visitors from any EU member states.
The GDPR gives consumers the right to be clearly informed of the data that’s collected about them and how it’s being used. Further, there is a requirement that first-time users provide consent to their data being utilized in said manner via a cookie consent banner.
What Else Do You Need?
Whenever you’re operating your business off a website, you’ll need more than just a Cookie Policy.
First of all, you’ll need your main terms and conditions. This is the central contract that sets out how you provide goods and services to your customers online. It will cover terms such as payment, delivery, supply, intellectual property, and anything else you might want to add. For example, eCommerce stores will specifically want to have terms around returns and refunds.
On top of this, it’s a good idea to also have a Privacy Policy. This sets out how you collect, store and handle the personal information of your users (even if it’s just their email address!).
