Graduate Lawyer – Immediate Start (FT)

  • OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a confident and tech-savvy law graduate with excellent communication skills and an interest in NewLaw to join our team and help us on our journey to disrupt the legal industry!

sprintlaw is an innovative, online law firm for small businesses and startups. We’re on a mission to make quality legal services faster, simpler and more affordable for our clients.

We offer a range of fixed-fee legal packages covering everything that small businesses and startups need – company set up, contract review and negotiation, employment, intellectual property, capital raising and leases. We run our business like a tech startup, with user experience, creativity and lean thinking at the core of our culture – as well as flexibility and autonomy for our lawyers.

  • THE ROLE

Join our team as a graduate lawyer and take the opportunity to learn and grow quickly in a dynamic, startup environment.

You’ll start off working in our Clients Team, using your legal knowledge in order to scope and understand the type of legal service each customer requires. You’ll be the first point of contact for new enquiries, developing on-going relationships with customers throughout their business journey.

You’ll also get hands-on legal experience, with working closely with our senior lawyers on a range of commercial and corporate law matters. With experience, there are opportunities to transition fully into the Legal Team or continue your growth in the Clients Team.

The clients you’ll be helping out will generally be small business owners and startup entrepreneurs, in industries such as technology, eCommerce, hospitality, retail, media, fashion and finance.

Legal technology and efficiency plays a central role at sprintlaw, so you’ll also be involved in improving our in-house technology and business processes.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:

Responding to customer enquiries via emails and over the phone
Use your legal knowledge in order to scope and understand the type of legal service each customer requires
Be the first point of contact for new enquires and explain how sprintlaw works and why it is different and ‘better’ than traditional legal services
    Develop on-going relationships with customers
Manage relationships by effectively using sales strategies and scheduling follow ups.
    Drafting legal documents for clients
Legal research and keeping up to date with changes in the law
Assisting the senior lawyers with client communication including calls and email correspondence

    Other responsibilities may include:

    Developing sales and marketing strategies
Attending business development events and activities
Updating processes and assisting the legal team

  • YOUR SKILLS

This is a graduate legal role – you have to have completed a law degree in NSW. We can supervise your PLT work experience if you are not already admitted as a lawyer.

We also are after people who are:

Tech-savvy – be able to operate the various technology platforms we use
Personable – be able to easily explain and communicate complex legal concepts to clients
Independent – comfortable working without supervision
Efficient – we’re after people who know how to move quickly and get things done

    Required Skills:

This role is customer facing and involves a lot of communication with new clients and the legal team. Excellent customer service skills are essential
An appetite for sales and a genuine interest in assisting new and existing customers
Attention to detail and experience with legal documents
The ability to ‘think on your feet’ but also understand when to seek help from co-workers – you’ll have plenty of guidance from our lawyers who are subject matter experts.
The ability to explain technical legal solutions in a simple yet effective way
We’re a collaborative team that brings a supportive and positive vibe to work – but we also work flexibly and aren’t always around checking your work. This means that you’ll need to be able to be organised, work autonomously and show strong initiative.
Proficiency with tech and sales processes
Interest in startups, entrepreneurship, and disrupting the legal industry is a benefit.

  • THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

We’re based in The Commons co-working space (20-40 Meagher St, Chippendale NSW 2008), and share the space with a community of creative and innovative businesses. Some of the features of the space include: a wellness program, a photography studio, a maker space, a podcast studio, and an outdoor basketball court – all of which are available to our staff.

In addition, our firm uses a cloud based system and we support working remotely wherever possible. Why waste time commuting when you could be productive and get things done instead!
