Frequently asked questions
Unsure about how we work? We have gathered the most common questions for your convenience.
This is usually a good fit if you already have specific environmental claims you want checked before launch, relaunch or wider rollout. It works well for website copy, product pages, ads, labels, social posts and campaign messaging where terms like recyclable, sustainable, lower impact or carbon neutral may influence buying decisions. We review up to three claims and the support behind them. If you need a full review of all marketing across multiple campaigns, that is a wider piece of work and can be scoped separately.
The biggest problems usually come from claims that sound broader, more certain or more complete than the evidence really supports. A business might have support for one part of a product but market the whole product as environmentally better, or use absolute language without explaining the limits. Risk can also come from the overall presentation, including images, headlines and fine print. We look at the claim in context and consider whether the wording, qualifications and supporting material line up in a way that is less likely to attract challenge.
Yes. A claim can look sensible on the page but still create legal risk if the supporting material is too narrow, outdated or incomplete for the way the claim is presented. We review the wording alongside the documents or information you provide, such as certifications, supplier statements, testing summaries or internal data. We do not independently test or verify technical accuracy, but we can identify where the legal position appears to depend on stronger substantiation, clearer limits or more careful wording in the marketing itself.
Yes, and that context can matter. Promotion rules may depend on the mechanics and location of the competition, so a green claim tied to a giveaway, prize draw or limited campaign can raise extra issues beyond the claim wording alone. The terms need to reflect the actual promotion mechanics and prize structure. We can flag where the environmental messaging and the promotion setup may need to work together more clearly. Permit requirements can vary depending on where and how the promotion runs, so that part is not something this fixed-fee handles.
After the review, you can decide whether to soften the wording, add qualifications, improve the evidence file behind the claim or pause use of the statement until the support is stronger. Many businesses use the review to tidy up product pages, campaign copy or packaging text before a launch. The fixed-fee includes the written advice and follow-up call, but not repeated rounds of campaign review or ongoing monitoring of future materials. If you want us to review revised claims later, we can quote for that additional work.
