FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Unsure about how we work? We have gathered the most common questions for your convenience.

A share split increases the number of existing shares by dividing them into smaller units, without changing the overall ownership or bringing in new capital. It’s typically used to make shareholdings more flexible, for example to allow easier allocation of shares among founders, employees, or investors.

By contrast, issuing new shares involves creating additional shares and offering them to existing or new shareholders, usually to raise capital or bring new people into the ownership structure. Issuing shares dilutes existing ownership, while a share split does not. It simply redistributes the existing value into more units.

Understanding the difference is important when structuring your company or preparing for a capital raise, and legal advice can help you choose the right option for your goals.

This package includes:

  • Drafting and filing Form SH02 (Share Split) with Companies House
  • Drafting the necessary board and shareholders' resolutions to comply with UK corporate governance standards
  • A phone consultation of up to 30 minutes with a Sprintlaw lawyer to take your instructions, advise you on the legal implications, and answer any questions you may have
  • 1 complimentary amendment to the final draft, provided you request the amendment within 10 business days of delivery

Working with us is simple. Start by submitting an enquiry through our website using the form at the top of this page or on our Get Started page. A legal project manager will review your enquiry within 1 business day and get in touch to understand your needs. They’ll then send you a fixed-fee quote setting out the costs, scope and timing. If you’re happy to proceed, you can accept and sign our engagement letter online.

Once that’s done, we’ll connect you with an expert lawyer who will complete your project by email, phone or video call, usually within 5 business days. If you’re not looking for help with a specific matter, you can also explore our platform, which offers free templates, tools to help set up your business, and a free tier to get started.

Whether you need legal support or just want to browse resources, we’ve got you covered.

At Sprintlaw, we offer a range of legal services tailored to startups and small businesses. Our pricing is transparent and designed to suit different needs.
