FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Unsure about how we work? We have gathered the most common questions for your convenience.

Solar installation projects often involve a mix of supply, on-site works and staged completion points, which means a basic services contract may leave important issues unclear. For example, the parties may need specific wording on access to the property, delivery and storage of equipment, milestone payments, testing, commissioning, delays caused by weather or third parties, and the line between workmanship obligations and product warranties. If those points are not addressed properly, the contract may not reflect how the project is actually meant to operate once work begins.

These agreements commonly cover the installation scope, project milestones, pricing, deposits, payment timing, site access arrangements, programme dates, variation procedures, testing and sign-off, defect handling, warranty wording, liability allocation, termination rights and confidentiality. If the installer is also supplying equipment, the document may need to distinguish between supply obligations and installation obligations. In some matters, it is also important to state what assumptions the pricing depends on, such as site readiness or access conditions, so there is less room for argument later.

We usually need a practical summary of the deal, including whether you are the installer or the customer, what works are being carried out, whether equipment is being supplied, how payment is structured and what dates or milestones matter. It also helps to know about site access restrictions, subcontractor involvement, testing requirements, sign-off expectations and any known concerns about delays, defects or warranty wording. If there is already a quote, proposal, heads of terms or a draft from the other side, that can be a useful starting point for the legal work.

Yes. If you have been given a draft by the other party, we can review it and suggest changes so the wording better reflects the agreed commercial position and the risks you want addressed. That is often useful where the document is broadly workable but needs clearer terms on milestones, variations, delay responsibility, defects, warranty language or liability caps. If the draft is too far from the deal you are actually doing, a fuller redraft may be the better option. Either way, the service remains centred on the contract itself.

It can be. A generic template may not deal properly with project-specific issues such as roof access, grid-related dependencies, staged commissioning, customer responsibilities before installation, or what happens if the scope changes once work is underway. It may also blur the difference between equipment warranties and the installer's own obligations for workmanship or rectification. Those gaps can become expensive if there is a disagreement about delay, payment or defects. A tailored draft or review is usually better where the project has meaningful value or operational complexity.
